Sphaerodactylus

Sphaerodactylus est un genre de geckos de la famille des Sphaerodactylidae.

Répartition

Les 115 espèces de ce genre se rencontrent en Amérique.

Description

Ce sont dans l'ensemble des animaux de petite taille (dont le plus petit représentant des geckos à l'heure actuelle, Sphaerodactylus ariasae, découvert récemment et dont la taille est inférieure à 2 cm), avec une apparence svelte et un museau en pointe, et qui pour beaucoup pondent un seul œuf à la fois (alors que la plupart des geckos en pondent deux à la fois).
Ce sont pour la plupart des reptiles terrestres et nocturnes, qui se nourrissent d'insectes.
